BIOGRAPHY
Dr Dirk Schwede (PhD USyd AU, Dipl.-Ing.) has studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig and the University of Stuttgart. He received a PhD from the University of Sydney in Australia in 2006. In 2008 he founded the consulting firm energydesign in Shanghai as a partner and served then as its managing director.
Dr Schwede has been Juniorprofessor for Sustainable Building at the University of Stuttgart endowed by the Robert Bosch Foundation. He was Research Group Leader of the group for „System Integration and Sustainable Building“ at the Institute for Building Energetics, Thermotechnology and Energy Storage (IGTE), Stuttgart University. Today he is Professor for Energy and Building Services at the Technical University of Applied Science in Lübeck and is working on large research projects on sustainable and energy efficient building in Vietnam and Cambodia. He is also working as a energy expert in Germany and as a consultant for UNDP, ADB and GIZ in international projects.
His research is focused on sustainable development in the Asian context and climate through architectural and engineering measures in the built environment as well as on adapted sustainable building approaches for developing and emerging countries.
