TOPIC

Challenges and green financial demands of housing developers

ABSTRACT

Since 2014, as a Vietnam-based developer backed by Luxembourg’s Affordable Housing Fund, we want to innovate the local mid-market housing with affordable, well-designed apartments that provide first-time homebuyers with sound long-term investments and eco-efficiency.

Since the housing residential sector is one of the biggest polluters, EZLand is doing our corporate responsibility in alleviating this by applying sustainable solutions with our commitment of 100% EDGE-certified projects.

As we move towards green development, there are still challenges besides opportunities.
– Inadequate recognition of the benefits of sustainability.
– Hard to maintain affordability as sustainable solutions requires heavy CapEx.

However, we think these challenges can be addressed by government and tax incentives, as well as green financing for consumers and developers.

In the near future, we strongly believe that people will acknowledge the benefits of sustainability, public awareness will increase dramatically with the growing demands of green buildings; therefore, it will be easier for developers to follow this vision. For EZLand, we continue communicating with customers and related partners to understand and encourage sustainability through clear mandate about projects and ESG activities. We would expect the introduction of direct and indirect incentives for the mass market affordable residential segment with Vietnam’s overall commitment to sustainability, we will see this trend as accelerating as developers and investors want to stay ahead of the curve.
